Fearful lest she suddenly cause something terrible to happen, the Five Great Houses took turns to patrol Crescent Moon Ridge. The High Priest began increasingly to dislike going out but nobody knew what was wrong with him.

Dandan had lifted the entire waterfall, channelled it as a watery tornado and then struck a massive rock with it, causing the rock to fragment from the impact.

‘Will this do?’ he asked breezily when he was done.

Liang Luoheng mopped the water off his face. ‘… It’ll do.’

Song Lin leaned against a tree and began silently observing the situation with great enjoyment.

‘Why is he growing that?’

‘Oh, he says he hopes that his teacher will be able to keep him company for a while longer,’ Dandan explained before adding, ‘His idea of a while is a very very long time.’

‘And what about you?’

‘Me?’

‘Is there someone whom you want to be with for a long time?’
